Last Updated: November 22, 2022

Age Requirement

Chatib is ONLY for users who are at least 18 years of age. For the safety of our users, please do not use this site if you are under this age for any reason whatsoever. We take age restrictions seriously and will remove any underage users we discover.

To ensure the safety and security of our users, we have implemented comprehensive safety measures. Please take time to review and follow these important guidelines.

Identity

  • Full real name
  • Date of birth
  • Social security number
  • ID documents or photos

Location

  • Home address
  • School or workplace
  • Regular hangout spots
  • Daily routines

Contact Info

  • Phone number
  • Email address
  • Social media profiles
  • Other messaging apps

Financial

  • Credit card numbers
  • Bank account details
  • Payment app usernames
  • Never send money

Best Practices

  • Use a nickname that doesn't include your real name
  • Keep your nickname non-suggestive and appropriate
  • Don't share photos that could identify you or your location
  • Keep conversations general and light
  • Trust your instincts - if something feels wrong, it probably is

Avoiding Phishing and Scams

Phishing is when someone tries to trick you into revealing personal information or clicking malicious links. Here's how to protect yourself:

How to Recognize Phishing Attempts
  • Messages claiming you've won a prize or contest
  • Requests for passwords or login credentials
  • Urgent messages claiming your account is in danger
  • Links to external websites (especially URL shorteners)
  • Requests for money or financial assistance
  • Too-good-to-be-true offers or opportunities
  • Messages with poor grammar or spelling

What to Do If You're Targeted

  1. Don't click any links - Even if they look legitimate
  2. Don't share information - No matter how convincing the request
  3. Report immediately - Use our reporting feature
  4. Block the user - Prevent further contact
  5. Contact us - If you believe your account was compromised: info@chatib.chat

Password Security

A strong password is your first line of defense against unauthorized access.

DO

  • Use at least 12 characters
  • Combine letters, numbers, and symbols
  • Mix uppercase and lowercase
  • Use unique passwords for each site
  • Consider a password manager

DON'T

  • Use "password" or "1234"
  • Use your name or birthday
  • Share your password
  • Reuse passwords across sites
  • Write passwords where others can see

Example of a Strong Password

Instead of: chatib123
Use something like: Ch@t!b$Pr0&2024#Xk9

Safe Messaging Practices

Be Cautious of These Red Flags
  • Too fast intimacy: Someone claiming to love you after just meeting
  • Sob stories: Requests for money due to emergencies or hardship
  • Pressure tactics: Pushing you to do things you're uncomfortable with
  • Moving off-platform: Insisting on chatting elsewhere immediately
  • Avoiding video/calls: Always having excuses not to video chat
  • Inconsistent stories: Details that don't add up or contradict
  • Inappropriate requests: Asking for explicit photos or content

Healthy Conversation Signs

  • Respectful and appropriate language
  • Respects your boundaries and pace
  • Interested in genuine conversation, not just personal info
  • Comfortable with you ending conversation anytime
  • No pressure to share contact information
  • Shares reasonable information about themselves

Remember: You can leave any conversation at any time. You never owe anyone an explanation or your continued presence. Your comfort and safety always come first.

Meeting People from Online

Important Warning

We strongly discourage meeting anyone in person who you've met on Chatib. Remember that people online may not be who they claim to be. Anonymous chat platforms are designed for online conversation, not real-world meetups.

If You Choose to Meet Despite Our Advice

While we don't recommend it, if you absolutely decide to meet someone:

Public Location

Always meet in a busy, public place like a coffee shop, restaurant, or shopping mall during daylight hours.

Bring Someone

Take a trusted friend or family member with you. Never meet someone alone, especially for the first time.

Tell Others

Let multiple people know where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you'll be back. Share location with trusted contacts.

Own Transport

Arrange your own transportation. Never accept rides or go to secondary locations.

Warning Signs of Dangerous Intentions

  • Insisting on meeting in private or isolated locations
  • Pressuring you to come alone
  • Making promises of modeling contracts, money, or gifts
  • Becoming angry if you want to bring someone
  • Suggesting meeting very soon after connecting
  • Being vague about their identity or background

Reporting Abuse and Violations

We maintain a zero-tolerance policy for abusive behavior. If you encounter any violations, report them immediately.

What to Report

Harassment

Bullying, threats, stalking, or persistent unwanted contact

Inappropriate Content

Explicit images, pornography, or sexual content

Hate Speech

Racism, sexism, homophobia, or any discriminatory language

Scams

Requests for money, phishing attempts, or financial fraud

How to Report

  1. Use the Report Button: Click the report icon during or after a chat
  2. Provide Details: Describe what happened and when
  3. Include Evidence: Screenshots help us investigate (don't alter them)
  4. Block the User: Prevent further contact while we investigate

What Happens Next

Our moderation team reviews all reports promptly, usually within 24 hours. Depending on the severity, actions may include warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent bans. We take your safety seriously and appreciate your help in keeping Chatib safe for everyone.

For Parents and Guardians

Important Notice for Parents

It is the responsibility of parents and guardians to ensure that children under the age of 18 do not have access to Chatib. While we state our age requirements clearly, the anonymous nature of our platform makes age verification impossible.

Protecting Children Online

As a parent, you play the most critical role in keeping children safe online. Here are steps you can take:

Use Parental Controls

Windows: Control Panel → User Accounts → Family Safety
Mac: System Preferences → Screen Time → Content & Privacy
iOS: Settings → Screen Time → Content Restrictions
Android: Google Family Link app

Computer Placement

Place computers and devices in common areas (living room, kitchen) rather than bedrooms for easier monitoring.

Open Communication

Have ongoing conversations about internet safety. Make sure children feel comfortable telling you about uncomfortable online experiences.

Monitor Activity

Periodically check browsing history, installed apps, and online interactions. Set appropriate screen time limits.

Topics to Discuss with Children

  • Never share personal information with strangers online
  • Be cautious with links and downloads from unknown sources
  • Recognize grooming behavior - adults trying to build inappropriate relationships
  • Report uncomfortable situations to a trusted adult immediately
  • Understand that people lie online - someone claiming to be a child may not be
  • Think before posting - anything shared online can be saved and spread
